A severe-weather evacuation followed by a safe reopening
Max Events was retained to design, build and execute all operational elements of this multi-day outdoor event in Toronto. When severe weather approached Fizz Fest at Fort York in 2022, Max Events was monitoring the radar and ready to act. As lightning and wind moved toward the site, we began clearing exposed areas, issued an emergency shelter announcement and moved guests and staff to safety. Minutes later, a tent collapsed and heavy wooden Muskoka chairs were lifted by the wind—but the surrounding area had already been cleared. The team assessed and reset the site, communicated with guests in the shelter area and safely reopened the event approximately 45 minutes later. No one was injured, and the show continued.
